Richard Dömös, Forbidden Silence, a 2026 digital print, edition 1/30, hand signed, 32.9 × 48.3 cm, landscape, sold direct from the artist, in original state.
Description from the seller
Two warning signs emerge from the still water like the last traces of human presence within a landscape consumed by night. Their message is clear, yet the intended audience seems long gone. The water transforms movement into a soft mist, creating a dreamlike environment where the rules of civilization confront the uncontrollable force of nature.
The photograph explores the paradox of prohibition without witnesses. Designed to protect human beings, the signs stand alone within an endless expanse of darkness and haze. The work raises the question of whether the boundaries we create truly exist in the world around us or primarily within our own minds. In this unsettling emptiness, prohibition becomes a metaphor for human fears, while silence becomes a symbol of the unknown.
Printed on premium Fomei Cotton Textured 240 is a deep matte, textured fine art inkjet paper with a 100% cotton backing. Reproductions made on it will not fade: it is acid-free and does not contain optical brighteners. The photo is stamped and signed by the artist.
