Meteorito Gebel Kamil is an ungrouped iron meteorite from Egypt, originating in the Gebel Kamil region, and weighs 35 g.
Description from the seller
Name: Gebel Kamil (Egypt) February 19, 2009. (22°01'06"N, 26°05'16"E).
Classification: Iron meteorite (ungrouped).
History: A total of approximately 1600 kg of iron meteorite shrapnel (thousands of pieces) was found, with masses ranging from < 1 g to 35,000 g, plus a single specimen of 83 kg completely covered with well-developed regmaglypts, in and around a diameter of about 45 m. The Kamil impact crater was investigated by an Italian-Egyptian geophysical team in February 2009 and February 2010. Approximately 800 kg of the total mass observed in the field were recovered (including the regmaglipted individual).
The Kamil crater was identified by V. De Michele, former curator of the Natural History Museum of Milan, Italy.
The geophysical study was conducted within the framework of the Italian-Egyptian Year of Science and Technology.
This beautiful specimen comes with its certificate of authenticity.
