A decorative pair of brass ship lanterns by Den Haan Rotterdam (DHR), dating to the 1950s–1960s, with etched glass, 40 cm high, 12 cm wide and 12 cm deep, weighing 2 kg, made in the Netherlands, in good used condition with minor signs of aging and staining.
Description from the seller
Atmospheric pair of brass ship’s candlestands from Den Haan Rotterdam (DHR), stamped with the factory seal DHR Holland under the foot. Probably manufactured in the 1960s.
The candlesticks have round, stepped feet and slender cylindrical shafts. The globe-shaped glass wind shields are made of frosted glass with transparent floral and leaf ornaments. The glass creates a lovely light effect and forms a beautiful contrast with the warm brass.
This type of candlestick is equipped with a spring mechanism in the shaft, intended to push the candle upward as it burns down. The hinged cap supports provide access to the candle holders.
The brass shows patina, local oxidation and signs of wear, appropriate for the age. See the original detail photos for the condition of the metal, the glass and the mechanisms.
A decorative pair for a classic interior, ship’s cabin, or a collection of nautical lighting.
The first ambience photo has a digitally altered background. The remaining photos show the offered candlesticks in their original surroundings.
