Francisco Ruiz de Montpellier was a Spanish painter of the 19th century, mainly recognized for being one of the most distinguished disciples of the renowned Romantic historicist painter José María Rodríguez de Losada (1826–1896).
He formed part of the bustling workshop and artistic training studio that Losada directed in Jerez de la Frontera. According to the chronicles of the time, Ruiz de Montpellier maintained a very close and utterly trusted relationship with his master.
