Oil painting by J. Inethlage (XX) titled Camosci nel paesaggio alpino, dating from 1920 in the 1910–1920 period, of Swiss origin, sold with an atelier-made gilt frame.
Description from the seller
Splendid oil painting on canvas depicting a group of chamois (Rupicapra rupicapra) immersed in a majestic and evocative Alpine setting. The work is a classic and refined example of Animalier painting and Alpine landscape of the Mitteleuropean school, datable to the late 19th and early 20th century.
The painting stands out for its excellent execution: the painter demonstrates a deep anatomical knowledge of wildlife, evident in the proud specimen in the foreground that turns its gaze toward the observer. The background is dominated by imposing mountain massifs partially veiled by clouds, which confer on the scene a romantic and timeless atmosphere.
The work is clearly and sharply signed in the lower right corner "J. Inethlage" (or J. Inetlage).
The painting is adorned with a magnificent and imposing handmade antique frame, crafted entirely by hand and finished with a precious 22-carat gold leaf gilding. On the back of the frame are perfectly preserved the original historical labels of the important Einrahmer- und Vergolder-Atelier Christel Thouvenin of St. Moritz (Switzerland), testifying to the elite provenance and the high value attributed to the work by the Engadine clientele.
A piece of antique art with great visual impact, perfect for enriching prestigious chalets, historic residences, or collections of Alpine art.
