Description from the seller
Icarus by Marc Lagrange (°1957 - †2015)
Icarus (2010) is one of his most Iconic photos and was 1 of 2 art works selected to be sold in offset poster for the XXML expo in 2011.
This one was signed by the artist and in very good condition.
size 100 x 70 cm.
To quote Marc Lagrange himself: “In my sensually staged artwork, these photographs are part of an elaborate dress code of seduction. A beautiful model can be like a diamond… No? Someone who gets all the attention in a shot and becomes the essence of my image.”
Filled with longing and sensuality, Marc Lagrange’s photographs celebrate fantasies and desire—placing beauty and dreams at the center of his world. Lagrange was born in Kinshasa, Congo, in 1957. His career path led him from engineering to photography, and his reactivity from fashion to art. Privileging analog over digital, the Antwerp-based Belgian artist searches for intimacy and emotion as opposed to artificial effects. His giant Polaroids—which have been exhibited worldwide—are a powerful example of his craft as well as his attention to detail: he can display the texture of skin, highlight natural curves and make his models stand out.
