Description from the seller
Ring with a large gallon-cut amethyst, diamonds, 14k gold, and enamel, 50s
Typology: Ring
Period: 1950s
Mount material: 14k gold
Main stone: Amethyst approx. 18.70 ct
Diamonds: 1.32 ct total
Total jewelry weight: 11.33 g
Inner diameter: 1.75 cm
Outer diameter: 2.12 cm
Cross: 3.3 cm.
Exceptional ring with a large gallon-cut amethyst of approx. 18.70 ct, mounted on 14k yellow gold with contrast and diamonds of approx. 1.32 ct total, in addition to small enamel details.
It features a natural large amethyst cut gallon-shaped (with carved channels in relief along its surface) of an intense violet color. The surrounding structure flanking the amethyst resembles a kind of architectural trim or bulbous beads, richly ornamented with a pavé of brilliant-cut diamonds (approximately 1.32 carats in total). It also incorporates subtle lines of black enamel that create a dark geometric pattern, highlighting the diamonds’ sparkle. The ring band is made of 14k yellow gold on the lower part, blending into a two-tone combination in absolute fashion.
Reminiscent of cocktail rings. Cocktail rings originated in the 1920s as a symbol of style, freedom, and audacity in the context of speakeasies organized under Prohibition. Today they remain the most elegant way to make a style statement.
Amethyst is a quartz variety of magmatic and hydrothermal origin. Most amethyst deposits are found in Brazil and Uruguay, where its approximate dating is about 160 million years. Amethyst is one of the earliest gems used historically as an ornamental stone and symbol of wealth and power. Traditionally it has also been associated with purity and spirituality. When it is bright and intense in color, amethyst is the most prized quartz variety, as in this case.
The product shipping will be paid by the buyer according to dimensions, weight, and destination. Shipping costs include professional tailor-made packaging; and personalized shipping, with tracking number and guarantee.
