Beautiful original drawing of the double cover published of Topolino 3636 (regular + variant)
The regular and the variant of the same Topolino issue were dedicated to friendship; you could buy both and give one to a friend with whom you share reading Topolino stories from a distance, perhaps while vacationing in different places, thus being united by this passion and this friendship.
The two covers depict Donald Duck and Mickey Mouse on vacation, keeping in touch through the classic cup-and-string telephon e, a primitive phone that we all played with as children.
The two illustrations are therefore connected by the phone line.
The A4 sheet portrays both covers
This is a very well done and complete drawing
ANDREA FRECCERO
At six years old he “drew” his first Disney cover on Bonassola beach (Liguria), copying a Robin Hood from one of his all-time favorite artists, Don Bluth.
It was a game; Andrea could not imagine that many years later his covers would travel the world.
After finishing art high school at 19, he came into contact with one of the Greats of Italian-made Disney comics, G.B. Carpi, with whom, after a long learning path, he began to collaborate. It was the late 80s; Andrea began his long Disney career, working on comics, illustrations and covers.
In the following years the collaboration with the leading weekly (Topolino) was steady; Freccero is considered the “graphic dad” of one of the most successful series of recent years, Doubleduck, for which he conceived the main characters, helping to shape its stylistic essence. More recently he began a series of Star Trek parodies written by Bruno Enna, titled Star Top.
Today Andrea is considered one of the most relevant talents of his generation; he was entrusted with one of the most important covers in the history of Topolino, n. 3000. Truly distinctive work that garnered enormous critical and sales success.
Also worth remembering is the celebratory 4‑panel variant no. 3023, a cover that marks Panini Comics’ entry into the Disney universe made in Italy and presented at Lucca 2013.
For about ten years he has been the official cover designer for the Lustiges Taschenbuch, an important Disney series published by North European publisher Egmont Ehapa, for which he also creates comics stories and various types of illustrations.
Freccero’s work is particularly appreciated throughout Northern Europe, where he is often invited to create advertising images for gadgets or important celebratory illustrations.
Giunti also relies on Freccero for some highly successful editorials, “The Most Beautiful Disney Stories” and “The Masterpieces of Disney Literature,” while IDW commissions him for covers on which his creativity is especially vivid.
Over the years his professional experiences are many; Andrea frequently works for Ferrero as a marketing creative, Philips, Rovio (Angry Birds), Glénat, Sanoma, Arnoldo Mondadori, RCS, Unique Heritage Presse. In the last four years, Andrea has held the role of artistic supervisor for all Panini Comics’ Disney series, a role he performs with great passion and enthusiasm.
His favorite character is Donald Duck; he loves the mountains; when he has a minute free, he plays on PlayStation, or goes for a run with his Honda 600."
