Description from the seller

Complete 12-piece Franklin Porcelain collection – Birds & Flowers of the Orient – Japan, 1985
A particularly beautiful and complete set of twelve fine porcelain Japanese teacups from Franklin Porcelain / Franklin Mint, originating from the “Birds & Flowers of the Orient” series from 1985.
The collection is based on designs by the Japanese artist Naoko Nobata. Each cup represents a different month of the year and is decorated with its own combination of birds, flowers, and plants appropriate to the season.
The twelve different scenes together form the complete annual cycle: January – crane and pine; February – nightingale and plum blossom; March – dove and peach blossom; April – pheasant and azalea; May – swallow and peony; June – peacock and iris; July – rooster and morning glory; August – white heron and lotus; September – quail and autumn grasses; October – sparrow and chrysanthemum; November – goose and maple; December – bird and bamboo.

The cups are made in fine white porcelain with richly colored imagery and distinctive blue decorative rims. The top edge is finished with a delicate 24-karat gold rim.

All twelve cups bear on the underside the original Franklin Porcelain mark with Japanese characters, 1985 FP – JAPAN and the indication that this is limited-edition porcelain.

Condition: exceptionally beautiful. All twelve pieces are in excellent condition. No chips, cracks, hairlines, or other damage and no visible wear to the decorations. The gold rims are also very well preserved. For completeness, each cup comes with multiple close-up photos and photos of the underside.
The set consists of all twelve different monthly decorations.
The original packaging and documentation are no longer present.
Dimensions per cup: approximately 8 cm high and 5.5 cm in diameter.
A very decorative and now vintage Japan Franklin Porcelain collector’s set, which as a complete series is considerably more interesting than the individual cups.
The twelve cups will be shipped individually and carefully packed.
