Olijfhouten "The New Testament" (1929) & Metalen/Zilveren Sidoer - Shaarei Tefillah - Gebedenboek - 1929

Set of two different religious books with very decorative bookbindings. A valuable addition for collectors of religious objects and Judaica.

1. The New Testament (1929) - Bethlehem Olive Wood Band

Notes: Front and back covers made from authentic, beautifully figured smooth polished olive wood. The front features the inscription 'Bethlehem' and a deeply carved Jerusalem cross (crusader cross). The book has a red leather spine and red-tinted page edges.

2. Jewish Sidoer Prayer Book (1963) - Bezalel-style metal band with Turquoise. A Jewish prayer book (Sidoer) for weekdays, the Sabbath, and holidays. It contains the Hebrew text with a French translation.

Notes: Highly ornate silver-colored metal book binding. The front is inlaid with 5 turquoise cabochons and displays a crowned image of the Ten Commandments. The back is adorned with a Menorah and the symbols of the Twelve Tribes of Israel. The book block features a finely chased geometric motif. Includes the original bookmark.

Condition:
Both books are in very good vintage condition with hardly any signs of aging given their age. The olive wood has a beautiful luster and the metalwork of the Sidoer remains highly detailed. See the photos for an accurate personal impression of the state.
