This album Het Laatste Lint is dedicated to our dear Leen Vandersteen.

She was much more than just the head of the studio. Leen was the heart of the series and we still feel that today. Right from her appointment she took the reins decisively and breathed new life into Suske and Wiske.
There were a few difficult knots to cut, and that required courage.
It was not always gratefully received by the media and fans, but fortunately that feeling did not linger.
Soon she became the ambassador of the series.
She genuinely had a lot of love and respect for her father and his work.
Whenever she walked in, a kind of warm nostalgia washed over the people. She served as a model for Wiske and that gave her something disarming. Leen often took the floor on special occasions and then everyone listened in awe. In short, she has meant a great deal for the series.
In those days she chose Luc and me. She did so purely on feeling, and I think, like us, she sometimes had sweaty hands when thinking about the future. But she had the right end of the stick. The studio still manages to keep the ship afloat, even with Wout as successor. In this album we have depicted her as the warm personality she was. Much more than a good CEO, she was a bit of our mum, I hope. I sincerely hope that feeling is in there.

We miss you Leen. And we promise to keep you alive through that pesky Wiske.
