Fragment of the Sericho meteorite. It is a pallasite-type meteorite, metal-rich. It is set in a branch of silver-colored metal and linked to a modern 925 silver cable chain.
Its official discovery was in 2016, in the Sericho region of Kenya. Although local shepherds had known of its existence long before.
This type of meteorites are considered the most beautiful in space for their composition.
Composed of a metallic iron-nickel matrix, whose main minerals are kamacite-taenite. It contains inclusions of olivine crystals in varied tones, ranging from green to orange. Often these crystals are so perfect that they possess gemstone quality.
It is believed they originated in the mantle of large asteroids or protoplanets after suffering a catastrophic destruction in the Solar System.
Customs duties outside the EU will be borne by the auction winner.
