Two cast-iron Cubic mortars with pestles by Carl & Carl, produced in Sweden between 2010 and 2020, in good used condition with minimal surface oxidation and a minimalist neo-brutalist design.
Description from the seller
Exceptional mortar and pestle from the « Cubic » collection, the fruit of the collaboration between the famous Berlin design studio Carl & Carl and the century-old Swedish manufacturer Skeppshult (founded in 1906).
Piece of neo-brutalist and minimalist design from the 2010s. Its sculptural cubic, massive and streamlined form highlights the raw beauty of the material in its naked state and its unique granular texture, resulting from a traditional sand casting.
This set is particularly appreciated for grinding spices.
Collector's feature (Rare unmodified model):
1st original edition, characterized by its ergonomically perforated pestle entirely shaped in cast iron. This model is no longer produced today, making it a rare piece for enthusiasts of high-end culinary utensils.
Marking: Technical authenticity guaranteed by factory imprint numbers molded into the mass (mold number “3” under the base of the mortar and number “0” on the pestle body).
Condition: The set is in very good aesthetic and functional condition.
• The cast iron pestle is pristine and free of any oxidation trace.
• The mortar bowl is clean and sound, showing very light micro-pitting of surface oxidation at the bottom.
A timeless monolithic piece, as effective in the kitchen as decorative as a sculpture in a contemporary interior.
