Description from the seller
BLANCHARD, A.
Essay d'exhortations pour les états differens des malades
Paris, Chez Jacques Estienne, 1728.
A volume in-12 format bound in full brown calf of the period, spine with raised bands richly adorned with gilded compartments featuring floral motifs and furnished with a red morocco title piece. The work is written by Messire A. Blanchard, priest, prior and lord of Saint-Marc lez Vendôme.
This work is addressed to confessors and the faithful to assist them with the sick. It also includes a collection of acts and aspirations for the time of the agony, as well as a general examination on God’s commandments and the sins of various states to help perform a general confession.
It is a new edition corrected and enlarged, published in Paris by Jacques Estienne in 1728 with approval and privilege.
Era-bound in full brown calf in good overall condition, with a well-preserved spine, superb gilded decorations and a perfectly legible title label. Signs of wear and small losses on the headcaps and corners. Joints split. Good overall binding. Title pages and text bodies clean with a few rare fox spots, complete with the text."
