Description from the seller
Excellent painting from my private Jazz collection by the artist Xico Fran
Xicofran (artistic name of Francisco Fernandes) is a renowned Angolan-Portuguese visual artist and painter, widely recognized at national and international levels as the "Painter of Jazz". Born in Luanda, Angola, in 1969, his work focuses on the visual translation of movement, rhythm and the vibrancy of jazz music.
Career and Artistic Style
• Solid Formation: He graduated in Design from IADE in 1992 and studied Interior Design at the Escola Superior de Artes Decorativas (ESAD).
• Master’s Influence: In 2002, he crossed paths with Master António Inverno, from whom he learned essential techniques of canvas balance and points of light.
• The "Painter of Jazz": His canvases capture the silhouettes of musicians and musical instruments in vibrant, energetic abstract compositions. Curiously, he also spends part of his professional time working at the Lisbon Metro.
Notable Awards
• Gold Medal (2023): Won first prize at the 13th International Salon of Contemporary Art in Small Format in Figueira da Foz.
• Main Award of Art & Horse (2022): Decorated in Milan, Italy, at a prestigious international exhibition of contemporary art
