“From 1921 to 1936, Louis Ferchot carries his bad luck and his nickname from Paris to Berlin, from Naples to New York, where fits of sadness and misfortune, loves and outbursts follow one after another... An epic of a century ravaged by the rise of fanaticism and inequalities, Louis la Guigne has become a classic in the Vécu collection[6].”
Indeed, against the backdrop of a realistic interwar-era story, Louis la Guigne joins a band of anarchists with whom he fights injustice and the order in place. Facing him are crooked politicians, who quickly drive him to leave France for New York. It is his talents as a saxophonist that allow him to meet some Black jazz musicians.
