A rare and highly collectible Japanese single malt from Kanosuke Distillery, released as Ghost Series #16.
This whisky was distilled in June 2018, only one year after Kanosuke Distillery began production. It was initially matured for three years in a first-fill ex-Bourbon barrel, before being transferred to a second-fill Chardonnay barrique for finishing. It was bottled in April 2022 at 58% ABV, with an extremely limited outturn of only 271 bottles.
The release was selected as part of the Yoshitoshi Ghost Series, a collection curated by Japanese whisky specialists Hideo Yamaoka and Stefan Van Eycken. The label features Sagi Musume (“The Heron Maiden”) from Tsukioka Yoshitoshi’s famous New Forms of Thirty-Six Ghosts series.
