Georgian historical national flag, 1 piece, used, cotton, 157 cm wide by 100 cm high, dating to 1991–2004 with a dark wine-red field and a black-and-white canton.
Description from the seller
Beautiful historic national flag of Georgia, belonging to the period 1991–2004, when Georgia was once again independent after the dissolution of the Soviet Union. The design had already been adopted on 14 November 1990 and remained in use until 2004. The Flag Institute
The flag features a distinctive dark burgundy field with a prominent black-and-white canton on the hoist side. The black symbolized the period of Soviet domination, while the white stood for the hope of peace. The burgundy color was associated with the good times. The Flag Institute
This design was replaced in January 2004 by the current Georgian flag with the famous St. George’s cross and four smaller crosses. Consequently, this earlier national flag is an interesting historical artifact from the early period of independent Georgia.
Dimensions: 1.57 m x 1 m
