Rated Excellent on Trustpilot.
Weguelin, Nouveaux Dialogues François et Russes, a bilingual French–Russian educational manual (1807), 240 pages, half‑leather binding, in overall good condition.
Description from the seller
Very rare bilingual edition, French and Russian, of this educational manual written by the educator and grammarian Jean Philippe Weguelin (Ivan Filippovič Vegelin), a prominent figure in the diffusion and teaching of the French language in the Russian Empire at the turn between the 18th and 19th centuries.
The volume is structured in 130 lessons. They are parallel dialogues in French and Russian designed for everyday, conversational contexts.
Jean Philippe Weguelin, Nouveaux dialogues françois et russes, divisés en 130 leçons..., Moscow, Typografia universitæ (Stamperia dell'Università), 1807.
PP.: 239, (I). COMPLETE.
Copy with pages in overall good condition, with the usual signs of use and time and a few stains.
Contemporary half-leather binding quite worn and with gaps, but still solid. White endpapers present with inscriptions from the former owner.
Curiosity: a pencil inscription on the front pastedown states that this volume accompanied an Italian soldier of the Second World War in the Russian Campaign and that it was of great help to him in captivity.
