With this new series, Popléa transforms the Rubik’s Cube into an element of artistic composition. Each face is conceived as a small mosaic of nine colored pixels. Visually assembled, these faces contribute to a larger image.
The portrait appears behind a wall of broken cinder blocks. As if, by breaking the brutality of concrete, one discovers the strength of a work that had been hidden until now. The gray, rough material contrasts with the vibrant colors of the cubes: the wall cracks, the art reveals itself.
