Vintage hammered copper bucket with a brass exterior finish, dating from 1970–1980, of Italian origin, in good vintage condition with minor age-related marks, measuring 38 cm high, 28 cm wide and 26.5 cm deep and weighing 1.26 kg, a Mid-Century Modern piece suitable as a log holder or an indoor planter.
Description from the seller
Vintage Hammered Copper Bucket with Brass Exterior Finish – Firewood Holder / Fireplace Planter – 1960s/1970s
Splendid and capacious vintage bucket with a linear and geometric design, characterized by a finely crafted hand-hammered copper interior and a glossy brass outer finish. The hammered workmanship creates on the golden exterior splendid plays of warm and vibrant light.
The piece features a sturdy swinging handle, firmly attached to the sides via contoured geometric mounts and standard blind pegs.
Although historically it was designed as a container for wood or coal to accompany the fireplace, the combination of metals and the glossy finish make it a perfect example of mid-century modernism, ideal for completing interiors in Mid-Century, Boho-Chic, or contemporary rustic styles.
Today this piece is highly sought after by interior designers to reinterpret as:
• An elegant lid-cover / planter for indoor plants.
The item is in excellent overall vintage condition. The structure is perfectly solid, stable, and completely free of holes, cracks, or structural dents.
Externally it preserves its splendid shine and original patina. The interior shows the classic and fascinating reddish coloration of hammered copper with traces of partial original patina on the bottom. It shows light, localized spots of superficial oxidation primarily on the handle, perfect for an item of this era.
