Dimensions with frame: 83x73 cm
Painting: 63x53 cm
Gabriele Saleri, born in 1927, since 1945 exhibited in both collective and solo exhibitions in Brescia, Verona, Vicenza as a professional painter.
His city and village landscapes, technically impeccable, lush countryside, delicately poetic still lifes, portraits that reveal spirits as well as features, and sacred art full of feeling make him esteemed by art experts, yet they also endear him to the public who appreciates his immediacy of communication.
His characteristic style with a luscious brushstroke, a calm tone, in which color is the absolute protagonist as it models the forms, gives them volume and texture, defines the planes of vision and makes a painting immediately recognizable even among many others, like a familiar melody.
Among his works one should recall at least the large paintings exhibited in public places, such as the Annunciata Cocchetti piece in Brescia’s Duomo Nuovo, the series of altarpieces with the friars of the Fatebenefrettini in the church of Sant’Orsola, the Madonna in the niche on Via Pisacane, Pope John XXIII in the chapel of the Secretariat of Pope John’s works in Via delle Grazie, Saint Apollonius in the parish church of Lumezzane, Blessed Giuseppe Tovini in the headquarters of the Valle Camonica Bank, the Dr. Franz Gurk of Karlsruhe Municipal Gallery in Germany.
In the exhibition “The Return of Feeling” the “Arabi” were exhibited for the first time, i.e., a selection of representations of exotic places and characters inspired by a trip to Tunisia.
