Brass perpetual desk calendar with a radiant sun motif and two brass sliders, dating to 1960–1970, dimensions 14.5 × 12 × 4 cm, weight 350 g, in good vintage condition with patina and minor signs of use.
Description from the seller
Brass desk perpetual calendar – Radiant sun – With its 2 sliders – Mid 20th century
Elegant old brass desk perpetual calendar, dating probably from the mid-20th century.
The front features a particularly decorative composition organized around an anthropomorphic radiant sun, an emblematic motif occupying the center of the dial.
Around the sun are the 31 days of the month in Arabic numerals, each associated with a space intended to receive a small removable slider. At the bottom are the twelve months of the year in Roman numerals, I to XII, functioning on the same principle.
The offered specimen has precisely an interesting feature for its preservation: its two small brass sliders are still present, allowing simultaneous indication of the day and the month. These small removable pieces are frequently lost on examples that have come to us.
The edge of the dial is enriched with relief scrolls and arabesques, contrasting with the polished parts of the brass. The back features a grid-work and pierced design as well as a decorative articulating stand, allowing the calendar to be placed vertically on a desk, a bookshelf or a console.
The brass has an antique natural patina, with nuances and light signs of wear consistent with the object's age. This patina has been deliberately preserved and contributes to its character.
A functional and decorative object, this calendar can be reused indefinitely: simply reposition its two sliders to indicate the desired day and month.
