Magnificent 19th-century Dutch pastoral landscape by the renowned Hague animal painter H.C.C. Bogman (1861–1921).
• Artist: Hermanus Charles Christiaan (H.C.C.) Bogman Sr. (Dutch nationality, 1861–1921)
• Title of the work: Cattle by a Farm
• Year: 1897
• Technique: Oil on solid mahogany panel
• Dimensions (framed): 40.0 cm (height) × 46.5 cm (width) × 4.0 cm (depth)
• Signature: Lower right, fully hand-signed and dated by the artist ('H.C.C. Bogman ’97')
• Condition: In good, authentic condition with a beautiful paint texture and minimal signs of aging consistent with the age.
• Frame: Including the shown rich antique gold-coloured ornamental frame.

This atmospheric, finely worked cabinet piece from 1897 depicts grazing and ruminating cows at a characteristic whitewashed farmstead. Hermanus Charles Christiaan Bogman lived and worked in The Hague and, in the tradition of the Hague School, was mainly known for his high-quality polder landscapes with livestock.
