Description from the seller
Kresse, Hans G. - original film cell page VIDOCQ - (1960s)
Hans Georg Kresse (Amsterdam, 3 December 1921 - Doorwerth, 12 March 1992) is regarded as one of the greatest pillars of the Dutch comic world, has left an impressive oeuvre, with Eric de Noorman as his magnum opus. Hans Kresse is counted together with Marten Toonder (including Tom Poes and Heer Bommel) and Jean Dulieu (including Paulus the boskabouter) among the big three comic artists that the Netherlands knows. Rightfully Hans G. Kresse is in his own country and far beyond regarded as one of the very best realistic comic artists, who has also served as an inspiration for many other artists.
Vidocq is a Dutch comic series by artist and screenwriter Hans G. Kresse. The strip is based on the life of the historical figure Eugène François Vidocq (1775-1857), a criminal who later became head of the French security service and opened the first known private detective agency.
The series was published from 1965 to 1970 in the weekly Pep. In 1970 an album appeared, which was only available to Pep readers and was published by De Geïllustreerde Pers.
This lot concerns a beautiful original film cell from a page of one of the famous VIDOCQ stories, by the master Hans G. Kresse. Unique production material that was created directly from the original drawing and where the panels have not yet been colored and the speech balloons have not yet been filled in. Stunning to frame. These pages are almost not in circulation because at the time almost all were destroyed. It is therefore very rare to call it. This offers a chance to acquire something unique of Kresse. You can’t get closer to an original drawing. In my opinion this has not been offered before.
Page format: 29 x 22 cm.
See also the photos which form an essential part of the description and show a good view of the quality.
This top piece will be sent to the new owner by registered mail, maximum packaging."
