This Christian signet ring stands out with its thick, generously worked body, combining a luminous gold finish with a religious decor that is particularly expressive.
Its wide circular bezel depicts Christ crucified on the Cross, topped by the inscription INRI. The scene, fully rendered in relief, stands out against a background abundantly inlaid with colorless sparkling stones, also arranged in a crown around the bezel. Their sparkle contrasts with the golden tone of the metal and highlights the Crucifixion scene.
The ring shank features a remarkable openwork, carved and relief-worked decoration. The intertwining curves extend on both sides of the bezel, giving the piece a rich and balanced architecture while allowing light to pass through the mount.
In Christian tradition, the Cross of the Redeemer evokes the sacrifice of Christ, redemption, and the hope of salvation. The crucified Christ recalls the Passion, while the inscription INRI, Latin abbreviation of Iesus Nazarenus Rex Iudaeorum, means “Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews.”
