The Russian Library was started in 1953 by Van Oorschot and grew into one of the best-known and most recognizable Dutch literary series. The original editions were produced as thin print runs and received their characteristic typographic design by Helmut Salden. The series was translated directly from Russian and includes works by, among others, Dostoevsky, Turgenev, Gogol and Chekhov.

What is special about this collection is the combination of different authors and the large number of first editions, including early volumes from the original period of the series.

Condition: the books have clearly been read and show signs of use. There are, among other things, stains, discolorations and other signs of handling. The cloth dust jackets are also missing. See the photos for a good impression of the condition of the individual volumes.

An attractive lot for the enthusiast and collector of Russian literature and of the classical editions of The Russian Library from Van Oorschot.
