"L'Offrande de la Rose" unfolds beside a hidden waterfall, deep in a forest where the rock walls are dressed in moss and fern and the air is heavy with mist. A tall white cascade pours into a pool of clear turquoise water, and a single shaft of golden light falls from the upper left, turning the spray into a soft haze.

In the water, a woman with dark wet hair and a fringe stands hip-deep, a fine silver chain at her throat, her face lifted and her lips parted. Her arm reaches upward, holding out a single red rose. Above her, on a moss-covered boulder, a second woman kneels in profile, her long dark hair falling over her back, leaning toward the gift with a calm and attentive gaze. Between them, the rose is the only note of red in a world of green, grey and turquoise.

Ferns arch over the rock in the foreground, smooth stones show through the shallow current, and the sound of the water seems to close the scene off from the rest of the world. It is a gesture without words, an offering made and not yet received, held in the moment before an answer.
