Candide or Optimism, a 1930 illustrated edition by Voltaire and Laboccetta, in French, with 200 pages and dimensions 17 x 10 cm, bound in red half‑leather with marbled boards and gold‑stamped title, part of La Bibliothèque Précieuse published by Éditions Nilsson, in good condition with vivid color plates and including Micromégas and Jeannot et Colin.

Paris, Éditions Nilsson (144, avenue des Champs-Élysées), without date, 1930.
Illustrated collection including the major philosophical tales of Voltaire: Candide or Optimism, Micromegas and Jeannot and Colin. The work is part of the collection “La Bibliothèque Précieuse” published by Éditions Nilsson.
Superb artistic ornamentation including exquisite Laboccetta color plates hors-texte illustrating the famous scenes from the tale (notably the expressive and colorful illustrations of Candide’s universe and Pangloss).
Elegant half-red leather binding with corners, smooth spine adorned with gold tooling and the title, boards covered with marbled paper in harmonious tones, matching endpapers and bookmark. Very good external condition. Interior fresh, clean and well preserved with its superb color illustrations.
