Trevisan Carlo - Europa

The painting "Europa" depicts a semi-nude female figure with her head crowned by a striking bright yellow turban. In Greek mythology, the Phoenician princess Europa is one of the most celebrated feminine figures of classical antiquity, linked to a fundamental myth: "The Rape of Europa," in which the young woman was noticed by Zeus while gathering flowers on the beach with her companions, and he abducted her, taking her to the island of Crete. The woman emerges against a dark and dramatic background, touched by reddish hues that recall fire or sunset. The work is enclosed within a luminous vintage gold leaf frame. The artist's signature "Trevisan" is clearly visible in the lower left on the painting surface. The painting is an oil on panel measuring 31x31 cm. It is mounted on a vintage gilded frame of 33x33 cm, ready to be hung.
