Dr. Eduard Lauber, Praktisches Handbuch des Zeugdrucks, is a four‑volume German language technical manual on textile printing and related chemistry, bound in demi cuir, 24 × 17 cm, about 1200 pages, dating from 1902 to 1905.
Description from the seller
Dr. Eduard Lauber. Practical Handbook of Textile Printing. Leipzig, Commission-Verlag der Buchhandlung Gustav Fock, 1902, 219 pp., 254 pp., 432 pp. / Practical Handbook of Textile Printing. Leipzig, Verlag von Siegbert Schnurpfeil, 1905, 248 pp.
4 volumes in-8 (240x170 mm), half Morocco binding with corners, smooth spine ornamented (bindings of the period). Worn and rubbed on the boards and spine. Interior fresh, without foxing.
Multiple editions - 4th edition (Volume I), 2nd edition (Volumes II and III) - in a nearly homogeneous binding. Complete in three volumes.
The first three volumes are exceptionally supplemented by the very rare supplementary volume of 1905 (original edition) published specifically to serve as a supplement to the fourth edition of Volume I and to the second edition of Volumes II and III.
Technical manual devoted to fabric printing and, more generally, to the chemical and industrial processes associated with the production of dyed textiles. Richly illustrated edition with more than 300 fabric samples.
The work is primarily practical and professional in vocation: it gathers the knowledge necessary for the preparation, printing, and finishing of textiles, in the context of the rise of dye chemistry at the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century. Its documentary interest lies particularly in the fabric samples, which allow comparison of the described processes with the results obtained.
