Domaine Ostertag 'Muenchberg' Riesling Grand Cru Muenchberg 2021, 2 bottles of 0.75 L.
Description from the seller
This 2021 Riesling Grand Cru Muenchberg comes from one of Alsace’s most prestigious climats, located in Nothalten at the foot of the Vosges. Cultivated since the 12th century by Cistercian monks, the Muenchberg ("the Mountain of the Monks") benefits from a south-facing amphitheatre-like exposure, protected from prevailing winds. The soil is singular: a blend of Vosges pink sandstone and volcanic sediments, giving the wine rare mineral tension and a characteristic saline imprint.
Produced by Domaine Ostertag, a benchmark for biodynamic Alsace (Demeter-certified), the wine comes from hand-harvested grapes and is vinified with minimal intervention in stainless steel tanks, on fine lees. The result is a dry Riesling of crystalline purity, with aromas of white fruit, citrus, white flowers, and a touch of flint. On the palate, the attack is delicate and the taut texture unfolds into a long, saline, vibrant finish.
A 2021 vintage of great elegance, this wine combines freshness, precision, and energy. While it can be enjoyed young after decanting, it will reveal all of its complexity after five years of aging and will pair brilliantly with your gastronomic dishes: scallops (Saint-Jacques), line-caught sea bass, fine choucroute, or well-aged goat cheeses.
