AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Mid-20th-century ceramic art tile, decorated with a female figure in the traditional festive costume of Atzara (Barbagia di Mandrolisai, Nuoro), with the original dark wood frame and relief carvings in geometric and shell/fan motifs. The inscription in the bottom right corner (nio) should be the signature of Antonio Gavino Pintus, Sardinian painter and decorator active in the mid-twentieth century, who drew inspiration from the style of Edina Altara, known for her illustrations of Sardinia’s folk costumes. The manufacture is by Veggia Industry Ceramic, from the Sassuolo area, which collaborated extensively after the war with various artists to create decorative tiles in limited editions.
