Description from the seller
Portrait composed of flowers.
Fragments of individuals imbued with a poetry as timeless as it is fantastical, the works of Fabien Delaube plunge us into a mirrored contemplation, where one may wonder, between the two, who is gazing at whom?
A complete artist: At once a specialized decorator (trained at the Bordeaux Opera and at the Compagnons du devoir) and a painter, he first trained in audiovisual techniques, and more particularly in photography. Later, the artist pursues a rich and plural education in the visual arts. Trained to master the full range of pictorial savoir-faire, from classical painting to trompe l'œil, his personal art emerges in the execution of an original contemporary figurative painting, imbued with dreamlike quality. Fabien Delaube then leans toward oil painting, which he likes to apply to perfect the finish of all his works.
Mysterious figures. The artist enjoys painting human bodily characteristics, more or less discernible, and they recall shapes inspired by African masks or other visages drawn from the history of theater or the military. . By seeking to decipher the “scars” of color and texture with which their faces are partially or wholly covered, one could almost uncover their story.
