Description from the seller
Heraldic insignia / antique front plate depicting the Royal Coat of Arms of the United Kingdom, widely used throughout the 19th century. In terms of size and construction, this matrix-printed item originally arose mainly as a helmet plate (ornamental frieze for a Shako or colonial helmets of line troops/general service), but it was sometimes used in civil and institutional contexts on safes, carriages, or furnishing components for government offices.
2. The Official Mottos:
• On the central circular garter: "Honi soit qui mal y pense" (Motto of the Order of the Garter).
• In the curved lower cartouche: "Dieu et mon droit" (God and my right - Motto of the British sovereigns).
3. The Crown Crest: Placed atop the shield and surmounted by the heraldic lion.
Technical Characteristics
• Country of Origin: United Kingdom (Great Britain)
• Era / Period: 19th Century (Victorian / Georgian era)
• Material: Heavy brass / Bronze alloy
• Finish: Natural patina of time, not polished (retains the historic charm of oxidation)
• Dimensions: Height between 9 cm and 11 cm (varying with the maximum proportional width)
• Weight: 101 grams (a solid weight, consistent with the thick casts or thick stamped metals of the period)
• Condition: Generally good overall given its age. Shows the normal signs of wear and metal aging on the reverse, which certify its authenticity and era.
Tracked shipping and rigid packaging, as the pierced structure of the lion and unicorn is the most delicate part during transport.
