A porcelain blue-and-white literati teabowl from China of the Transitional Period, titled Bowl, measuring 11.5 cm in width and 6.8 cm in height, authentic original.
Description from the seller
Chinese Blue and White 'Literati' Teabowl
China, Transitional Period to Early Kangxi, circa 1660–1675
A refined Chinese blue and white literati teabowl, decorated in soft cobalt-blue underglaze with an elegant and asymmetrical composition. The exterior depicts a scholar's rock (shanshi), accompanied by emerging bamboo and flowering prunus branches, while the reverse is sparsely decorated with a single flying bird.
The interior features a central medallion depicting another scholar's rock with vegetation. The neatly finished foot is encircled by a double blue underglaze line and bears the four-character studio mark “Guang Yu Tang Zhi” (广育堂制), meaning approximately “Made for the Hall of Abundant Brightness.”
The combination of the expressive literati painting style associated with the Shunzhi period and the increasingly refined execution characteristic of early Kangxi porcelain makes this a particularly appealing example of the Transitional period.
Dimensions:
W 11.5 × H 6.8 cm
Condition:
There is a small notch to the rim with an associated hairline and some rim fritting.
Please examine the photographs carefully. The written condition report is indicative only; the photographs provide the definitive and binding description of the item's condition.
Shipping:
The teabowl will be securely packed and shipped with insurance.
