Description from the seller
Two beautiful decorative Balinese wood carvings, renowned for their refined detail and deep roots in Hindu mythology. Bali, Indonesia, circa 1970-1980
• The Wooden Statue (Left): This sculpture depicts the divine love pair Rama and Sita (Shinta), the main characters of the famous Hindu epic Ramayana. They are often shown together in a serene, intimate pose as a symbol of eternal spiritual love, loyalty, and conjugal fidelity. The detailed crowns and garments reflect their royal status in the story.
• The Relief Panel (Right): This wall panel displays a classic scene from the Ramayana. It shows Sita being startled or mesmerized in the forest by the Golden Deer (Maricha in disguise). This deer was sent by the demon king Ravana to lure Rama away so he could abduct Sita. The panel is hand-carved in high relief, surrounded by lush Balinese nature and floral motifs.
Dimensions: listed with the photos.
Condition: in good condition overall; the back has cracks from drying out. (Knoest)
Photos are part of the description. These were taken under artificial light, the color may vary. Mood impressions are shown.
It is well packaged and sent by registered mail.
