Interesting pair of wooden sculptures depicting an Ainu man and woman, indigenous people of Hokkaidō, in northern Japan.
The composition comes from Lake Akan, Hokkaidō, an important area tied to Ainu culture and traditional craftsmanship.
Particularly interesting is the original base, which preserves an inscription with the place and a precise date: Lake Akan, June 5, 1987 (Shōwa 62).
