Description from the seller
RESERVE PRICE: €99
Marina Abramović’s artist’s poster created in 2003 for Utopia Station, a project presented within the framework of the 50th International Art Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia.
Utopia Station, curated by Molly Nesbit, Hans Ulrich Obrist and Rirkrit Tiravanija, was conceived as an international and collective artistic project, in which installations, meetings, performances and graphic interventions contributed to the creation of an open space dedicated to reflection on the concept of utopia.
A fundamental component of the project consisted of a series of 139 different artist’s posters, produced with the contribution of numerous key figures from the international art scene.
This exemplar is Marina Abramović’s contribution to the series, entitled “Cutting Through the Ignorance.” The image, of strong visual impact, associates the artist’s presence with the phrase “CUTTING THROUGH THE IGNORANCE,” a central element of the composition and the message of the work.
The poster is printed on thin-weight paper, loose-leaf, in the version produced for mounting as part of the exhibition. It is therefore an original artist’s poster from 2003 created for Utopia Station at the Venice Biennale, and not a later decorative reproduction of the image.
