Description from the seller
Oleksii Gnievyshev, born in 1991 in Ukraine, is a professional artist who has lived and worked in Germany since 2014. He graduated from the Kyiv Academy of Arts and subsequently studied for five years with private teacher Volodymyr Bahalika. His artistic work centers in particular on the deep connection between humans and nature. In his paintings he combines his knowledge, intuitive perception, the subconscious, and the intensive observation of nature. His works are today in private collections and museums worldwide.
"Pumpkin", 2026
Oil on canvas
This painting was created last autumn as an expressive study of a pumpkin in nature. Rather than reproducing the motif in a naturalistic and detailed way, I focused on its characteristic form, the intense colorfulness, and the lively movement of the brushstroke.
The work arose spontaneously and intuitively from the immediate observation of the motif. The strong colors and the expressive brushwork give the simple motif a special physical and emotional presence.
The pumpkin is not only regarded as the subject of a classical still life, but as part of living nature — precisely that connection between human, perception, and nature that forms an important component of my artistic work.
