Hazelburn Oloroso Cask Matured, 7 years in cask, distilled 2018, bottled 2026, 70 cl, 47.9% ABV.
Description from the seller
Dark amber with reddish reflections. Oily structure.
Nose
Full-bodied and intense. Lots of dried fruit. Raisins and prunes. But there's also a distinctly dirty feel to it all. As if fruit is dirty. Or perhaps picked from under a tree or bush, already overripe. Sweetness. Red fruit. Cherries. Redcurrant. All, of course, in the same vein as described earlier. Minerality. A touch of salt. An exceptionally subtle hint of smoke bordering on dirt. A touch of metallic. Barley malt. Spices. Black pepper.
Taste
Dried fruit. Dried plums. Raisins. Smoked plums. Spices. Black pepper. Metallic. Minerality. Saltiness. A touch of dirt. Overripe fruit. A hint of tar. Grease. Another pinch of spice. Pickled ginger. A subtle hint of smoke. Meaty. Cherries. More fruit on the second sip. Slight oiliness.
Finish
Dried fruit. Smoked plums. Prunes. A touch more sweetness than meets the eye. Cocoa. Dark chocolate. Salt. Black coffee. A touch of minerality. Still a slight dirty edge. Metallic. A subtle hint of smoke, bordering on muddy. After the second sip, there's even a touch of ash, but that's a downside. Quite a long finish.
