Description from the seller
This is an early printing of Charlotte Bronte's; "Shirley", written under her pseudonym Currer Bell. The book was published in 1871 and the story follows the roles and lives of women in the industrial north of England, during ties of social unrest and riots. This copy has been generally well cared for, but the external wear leaves in only Fair condition. It would make a terrific addition to any collection of works by female authors or a private library.

- Marbled Endpapers and page edges
- Text-Block is complete
- Pages are generally clean & straight - some marks and foxing here and there
- Boards and Spine are worn with rubbing, general wear and some tears

- Hinges are cracking but remain attached
- Neat name to the Front Flyleaf, dated 1873
