BIOGRAPHY OF THE ARTIST
Marguerite Gribi Kreutzberg was an American painter and muralist born in Elgin, Illinois, in 1880. She carried out much of her artistic activity in the Chicago area and stood out especially for easel painting, portrait, landscape, and mural painting. askART
She studied under the renowned American painter William Penhallow Henderson and was linked to the Chicago Art Academy. Her career achieved some recognition in the city’s art scene, even exhibiting at the Art Institute of Chicago. Historical documentation from the institute itself confirms her participation in exhibitions: works by her appear such as Saracen House, Harbor, Palermo, Palazzo, Palermo, Pink Mosque and Shoemakers, Taormina, done in pastel. askART
Her body of work shows a particular interest in landscapes, urban scenes, portraits, and views created during her travels. The documented works from Palermo and Taormina indicate her time in Italy, while Bryn Mawr sources also place her in Paris during a European stay. Core
