GEIDA - Cigarette

A woman, a cigarette, a life scene, an attitude, an atmosphere. Who is the main character of this scene; the woman who, in a liberating puff, unleashes the pressure of a day; the cigarette as a marker of life’s stages in an era nearly gone. The morning cigarette, the after-sex cigarette, the last cigarette and… this daily scene invites us to imagine all kinds of scenarios, to identify with it but also to question the place of the cigarette in our societies, previously a marker of life’s moments, it gradually disappears from our habits in increasingly dehumanized societies; it vanishes into this screen of smoke, taking with it the end of social ties, of habits, of connections, of image, of atmospheres, of icons.

GEIDA is a French artist from the south of France, born in 1982, on the shores of the Côte d’Azur.

Inspired by classic and modern painting, he moves between contemporary works and street art. His creations incorporate emblematic elements of classic and pop culture. His works are characterized by reinterpretations of major painters, warm colors, expressive and enchanting compositions.

GEIDA explores different forms of universes and productions. Some of his works are reproduced in small series on canvas-on-panel, thus creating limited editions accessible to a wider audience.
The artist’s style reflects a combination of classical art and new techniques. In order to captivate attention, provoke reflection and elevate interiors.

The artist uses different techniques and fuses them to create bold and impactful works; from an original pencil drawing, through the use of drawing software such as Procreate, to subtle touches of AI, and specific prompts; a use of mixed techniques in service of creation.
