Description from the seller
Work: Head of Medusa (Monumental reinterpretation based on the celebrated work by Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio from 1597).
Author: Rafael Borja
Technique: Acrylic on convex crystal
Dimensions: 60 cm in diameter (Actual size 1:1 relative to the original work kept in the Uffizi Gallery)
Support: Three-dimensional convex crystal with a gilded ornamental border painted by hand on the outer edge.
Condition: Excellent / Original studio piece
Certificate of authenticity: Included and signed by the artist
Details of the work:
High-fidelity technical recreation on the physical curvature of a convex support, emulating the three-dimensionality of the original ceremonial tournament shield. The piece stands out for an intense work of chiaroscuro, meticulous execution of facial anatomy and the expressiveness of the dramatic scream, accompanied by the serpentine detailing in dark tones and metallic flashes on an intense green background.
It comes with its custom-made black plinth/support for direct display on a table or sideboard.
