Monumens de la Monarchie Françoise – Dom Bernard de Montfaucon – Tomi III, IV e V
Interesting lot composed of 3 ancient volumes of the important historical work Les Monumens de la Monarchie Françoise by Dom Bernard de Montfaucon, printed in Paris in the eighteenth century.
The lot includes Tomes III, IV and V, for a total of 157 engravings, divided as follows:
Tome III: 52 engravings
Tome IV: 54 engravings
Tome V: 51 engravings
The engravings depict figures, monuments, artifacts and various aspects of the history of the French monarchy.
Conditions: the engravings are for the almost totality intact and overall in good condition, considering the age of the volumes. Some pages show traces and small holes caused by the woodworm, as well as a few small cuts or marginal imperfections. These defects have been photographed in the listing and are therefore visible in the images, allowing direct assessment of the conservation state of the volumes and the engravings.
The paper also shows natural yellowing, stains and signs of time, compatible with an eighteenth-century work.
Overall, the lot preserves an important iconographic apparatus of 157 engravings and is particularly interesting for collectors and enthusiasts of antique books, French history and eighteenth-century engraving.
