Biography:
Kobalt, born in Paris in 1970, embodies the journey of a polymorphic artist whose creativity has unfolded from electronic music to contemporary graphic art. Coming from a family where art was already present thanks to his father, a draftsman, Kobalt discovers at a very young age his first passion: music creation. This passion guides him in his youth, and his early talents lead him to make a bold decision: to invest the money destined for his higher education to invest in the creation of his first album.
Distributed by EMI, the album does not achieve the expected success, but it marks the beginning of a rich artistic career full of experimentation.
Parallel to his musical career, Kobalt enters the advertising world as a copywriter for the iconic magazine Playboy. For many years, he puts his creativity at the service of the publication by creating and producing the magazine’s advertising campaigns.
The turning point in his career comes in 2005 when he becomes a cinematographer, exploring a new facet of the visual world. In 2007, he discovers a passion for photography, adding another artistic string to his bow. In 2010, he successfully founds his own photography agency, highlighting his entrepreneurial spirit.
In 2017, Kobalt makes a radical choice to sell his agency in order to fully embrace graphic art, influenced by his son, who has become a major figure in global street art. A pioneer of computer-assisted artistic creation, Kobalt stands out with more than 3,000 works sold in galleries and online to date.
His artistic approach is characterized by bold use of humor, provocation, and anachronisms, with a particular penchant for reworking magazine covers, a style that makes him instantly recognizable.
Despite the digital era, Kobalt chose to remain off social networks, preserving a certain intimacy. Today, he uses all available digital tools to bring his creations to life, continuing to push the boundaries of artistic expression with a subtle blend of inspiration, innovation, and humor.
