Cortona - Manifesto Mostra Nazionale d’Arte Marinara – Roma, - 1970s

Manifesto of the National Exhibition of Marine Art, promoted by the Italian Naval League and set up in Rome between 1926 and 1927, at the Palazzo delle Esposizioni on Via Nazionale.

Note well: This is a later edition probably from the 1970s.

The graphic, signed V. Cortona, depicts two stylized fish emerging from the water, in a simple and visually striking composition. The green, black and ochre tones and the geometric letters recall the language of Italian graphic design of the early twentieth century. At the bottom are listed the typography specifications of E. Pinci of Rome and the information about the exhibition.

The poster shows folds and signs of time visible in the photograph. A decorative and refined subject, interesting for collectors of historic posters, Italian graphics and marine art.
