Suggestive advertising manifesto of “La Stampa,” the Turin daily, produced to promote subscriptions to the newspaper.
Note: This is a later edition probably from the 70s.
The composition, signed by Carpanetto and dated 1899, depicts a female figure seated on a carved throne, surrounded by piles of newspapers. In the background the printing equipment can be glimpsed, while the large title “La Stampa” dominates the upper part. The poster also lists the subscription rates and the name of the publishers Roux Frassati & C., Turin.
A beautiful testament to Italian advertising graphics from the late 19th century: elegant, rich in details and of strong historical value for the history of printing and journalism. Work by Carpanetto, an artist appreciated for his posters and his illustrations.
It shows folds and signs of wear, visible in the photograph.
