Description from the seller

A very fine antique 4/4 master violin, bearing the label: Anno 1735 Carlo Bergonzi fece in Cremona.
This beautiful instrument is in good, ready-to-play condition, featuring some small, professionally repaired cracks on the top and sides. It has a grafted scroll, bushed peg-holes, a good old ebony set-up, an old bridge stamped "Geera?" and new strings.
The violin is crafted with a beautiful, straight, high-grained spruce top and an attractive one-piece maple back with soft flaming and matching sides. The rich golden-brown varnish, applied over a golden ground, gives the instrument a wonderful antique appearance. The purfling is neatly inlaid, reflecting the fine attention to detail.
The violin has a very pleasing tonal character, producing a powerful, sweet, deep, and rich sound with excellent projection, making it particularly suitable for solo performance.
